Heavy black smoke billowed from the Nahr el-Bared camp in northern Lebanon as Fatah al-Islam militants responded with machine gun fire and anti-tank rockets.
At least 115 people, including militants, civilians and nearly 50 soldiers have been killed since fighting broke out May 20.
Tens of thousands of refugees have fled the camp, but thousands remain inside.
The militants have repeatedly refused government demands to surrender, and have vowed to fight to the death.
Lebanese authorities say they have in custody 32 Fatah al-Islam militants.
Authorities said Friday they detained at least nine Iraqis trying to enter Lebanon from Syria with forged passports. It is not clear why they wanted to enter Lebanon.
There have been several bombings in and around Beirut since the start of the fighting.
In other news, France has invited Lebanese political and civil society leaders to a meeting to discuss the future of Lebanon. The French Foreign Ministry says the meeting could take place late this month.
The pro-Western Lebanese government has been locked in a political power struggle with the pro-Syrian Shi'ite militant group, Hezbollah.
