GOP frontrunner hard to predict

WASHINGTON, June 15 (UPI) -- Polls are producing confusing results when it comes to which candidate is in the lead for the Republican Party's U.S. presidential nomination.

Depending on how the polls are read either former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani or former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is at the head of the pack, The Christian Science Monitor reports Friday.

The latest New Hampshire primary poll, conducted by CNN and the University of New Hampshire, puts Romney at 28 percent among likely GOP voters compared to 20 percent each for Giuliani and Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

But the poll goes on to report that only 6 percent of voters say they have definitely decided on a candidate while 57 percent say they have no idea who to vote for.

Forecasting in Iowa is more difficult because the state chooses its candidate by caucus and it's hard to tell who will show up.

The latest poll by the Des Moines Register put Romney in the lead with 30 percent followed by McCain with 18 percent and Giuliani with 17 percent.
