Banda Island ( Batu Kapal )

Whether you are up to this Banda Sea dive or not really depends on the tidal conditions. In slack tide this can be as easy as anywhere but outside this period it can roar to life and make for quite a white-knuckle ride! You will of course be fully briefed as to the tidal situation before you start.

If you don't mind being thrown around a fair bit or you manage to time it right this is a most rewarding site with an unbelievable array of soft and hard corals and gorgonians. Big chaps hang out here gently manoeuvering themselves through the current with enviable ease. These include tuna, sweetlips, napolean wrasses and various sharks.

Although this may sound like a rather hair-raising Banda Sea site, it is often calm and tranquil. Regardless of the conditions, it is generally considered world-class and well worth the effort.
